So you guys wanted more details on my updated makeup storage unit!! This was so simple and I love how organized and clean it keeps everything. I originally had all my makeup at a little seated vanity for years, but since then I have outgrown the quaint little thing. And honestly my eyes are crap and I could barely see my face in the mirror while seated. So now I can be inches away from the mirror and grab my ish from each organized drawer.
You can do this too! And it’s great because you can build/modify your design online before going into the store. I was able to do my measurements at home, virtually create my vanity by dragging and dropping different shelves and drawers to my liking, make my shopping list online, and then go into the store knowing exactly what I needed. You can also order online, since your store might be closed during quarantine. You’ll still have the opportunity to change shelving placement at home, so the online design isn’t permanent. I made my system through Ikea, and utilized the PAX wardrobe system. You can pick from multiple sized frames, and then choose different kinds of shelves, drawers, etc. You can even add a door or mirror for the front if you want the area covered.

I spent $195 to build my makeup station. You can definitely do it cheaper, the glass shelving and drawers are more expensive than the solid white wood.
I bought the PAX wardrobe frame with these dimensions (19 5/8×13 3/4×79 1/8). There is another option if you want deeper drawers or taller height however, I found that the size I chose is perfect for makeup. Anything deeper would have been difficult to reach product and anything taller I wouldn’t be able to reach.
Then comes the fun part. You can pick and choose how you want to fill your unit! Here’s what I did for mine, starting from the bottom:
Two solid drawers, I used to store my hair dryer, nail polish, extra razor heads and unused packaged makeup as well as other random items that aren’t as pretty to look at.
Above the two solid drawers, I added a drawer with a glass front here.

Next, I used two pull out shelves, appropriately spaced for eyeshadow palettes to be stacked, and lipsticks/glosses to stand up in acrylic organizers I linked at the bottom. One of the lipstick holders came with clear caps for Mac lipsticks and omg it totally adds to the vibe of the crisp and elegant look of the vanity. And so nice to not have to be searching for your fave lipstick and turn over 12 lipsticks before you find it.

In the middle I used a pretty glass shelf to stash my everyday makeup so its easy to grab.
For the top two shelves I used solid wood and these shelves are cheap. $5 each. I used one for everyday skincare favorites and the top one to store my perfume. Haven’t 100% decided on that entirely cause Greyson likes to jump to the top of my vanity and swipe at the perfumes. Can’t catch a break I tell ya.

So aside from the Ikea structure of the vanity, I did add some additional items to help me organize and glam up my makeup station. I bought these super cheap light pink organizers to stash different items in the drawers. I listed the 3 sizes I bought below. And then I already told you about the amazing acrylic organizers I used for eyeshadow palettes, lipstick, lipgloss, lipliner/eyeliners. THEN omg I think this is my favorite part. I got these rechargeable motion-sensor lights so it lights up the different shelves when you walk by. I know it’s so unnecessary but also kind of functional cause now when I get up to go to the bathroom at 3am I walk aimlessly into the bathroom and then those lights turn on and I can actually see where I’m going. See, functional.
Here’s the links for easy access:

Oh and last but not least, I bought a dust spray can so I can nicely keep my products dust free without having to take them all out individually to clean. And… this vanity just wouldn’t be complete without some of my FAVORITE products:
And my all time fave lip balm
