We all know nursing is killer on the feet. It’s not even surprising when we hit that 10,000 step mark by the end of the day. We go in and out of our patient’s rooms, respond to call lights, grab medications in the med room. We walk to the supply room, help out our other coworkers, transport patients on/off the floor and show family members around. You know I could go on. We are constantly getting up and down from charting to running somewhere else so we can clock out in time. And by the time our shift is done, our face is hurting from the N95s and our feet are killing us!

I’ve been a nurse for six years and trust me, I’ve gone through a lot of nursing shoes. There are a lot of shoes for nurses out there, so it’s hard to figure out which shoe is best for the job.

I have recently tried out Klogs from Klogs Footwear. I haven’t worn clogs for a couple of years, and I’ve bounced around with a lot of different running shoes and such. But my feet haven’t ever felt “great” after a shift on my feet. Running shoes offer some support, yes. But I don’t have great arches on my feet, so I know that’s not great for comfort during a 12-hour shift or my posture long term.

So let’s talk about Klogs! These shoes are so comfortable, you guys. Like when I first put them on, I forgot how nice it feels to have ACTUAL, full on arch support. They’re clogs yes, but very lightweight. They are also anti-microbial and hello, WIPEABLE. You can’t wipe your running shoes right. I don’t even wanna know what’s in mine…ew.

Anyways, I chose the style of Klogs called “Naples,” and picked the black leather ones (shocker, right). What I do like about the upper portion of these shoes as well, is the stretchy side panels. Compared to other clog brands on the market, they do not have these, and having these panels definitely make for a comfier fit. The back of the klogs are also padded so you don’t get any of that ankle pain from the shoe.

As healthcare providers, we know that sometimes we can step in some nasty stuff. Combined with them being wipeable and antimicrobial for this matter, they are also slip resistant. Those hospital floors can be sooo slippery when wet, and there have been numerous times where I’ve almost completely wiped out wearing running shoes from water on the ground or something worse. So these shoes are up for the challenge. Not to mention I’m 5’1 and I can appreciate the extra height to reach the monitor and other equipment lol.

So I ordered these shoes via the Zappos website. What’s great about ordering shoes from here is you can get free expedited shipping for simply signing up to be a Zappos rewards member, or you can also use your amazon prime membership on the website for free two day shipping! They also have 24-hour customer service and a 365-day return policy! Yes, A WHOLE YEAR! And they not only have clogs, they have all kinds of shoes and clothing as well!

These shoes have been awesome for school so far, and I can’t wait to wear them during my 24 hour shifts during clinical, they are going to be mandatory for my feet’s sanity.
